Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
